Terry Silkman , DVM
Owner and Head Veterinarian

Dr. Terry Silkman was born in Burlington, CO. He completed both his his undergrad and graduate studies at Colorado State University, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1990.
He first practiced in a mix animal hospital in Live Oak, CA then began work at Cottonwood Animal Hospital in Salt Lake City in 1993. Over the course of his six year employment there, Dr. Silkman was able to learn and develop skills to add to his repertoire which included joint replacment, endoscopy, and neurosurgery. Dr. Silkman then left Cottonwood in 1999 to open Jordan River Animal Hospital.
When he is not caring for pets, Dr. Silkman enjoys carpentry, home improvement projects, sports, exercise, boating and family time.

   

Arden Gillespie , DVM
Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Gillespie is originally from Arizona, but was raised in Kanab, Utah. He completed his undergraduate degree at Utah State University in Bioveterinary Science. Dr. Gillespie received his Veterinary Degree from Oklahoma State University where he worked in the Animal Disease Diagnostic Lab and performed research in the Bovine Respiratory Disease lab. Dr. Gillespie joined Jordan River Animal Hospital as an associate veterinarian in 2003. His special interests include small animal internal medicine and dentistry. Dr. Gillespie is also a Field Veterinary Officer in the United States Army Reserve Veterinary Corp assigned to the 993rd Medical Detachment (Veterinary Services) in Aurora Colorado.  In his free time, he volunteers with the Utah Animal Control Officers Association training program, is an NRA and Utah BCI certified firearms instructor. He currently lives in Riverton with his wife and three adorable children. Outside of work he enjoys Utah's wonderful outdoors, shooting in handgun competitions and spending time with his family.

   

 

Jennifer Nitsche , DVM
Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Jennifer Nitsche is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado where she studied fine art and completed her pre-veterinary course work. While in school she connected her love of art and animals by painting pet portraits while also working as a veterinary technician. Dr. Nitsche received her veterinary degree from Louisiana State University where she participated in the Hurricane Katrina animal relief program. She joined the Jordan River Animal Hospital as an associate veterinarian in 2008. Dr. Nitsche has special interests in ultrasonography and brachycephalic disorders. She has one dog, Tommy, an adorable English bulldog, and enjoys running, skiing and painting in her free time.
